Days two and three: damp walks through indigenous forest, mist and smoke, river crossings. Fire-cooked food—we showed some Gauteng carnivores how to camp vegan-like. I'm not sure they bought it.

Days four and five: sunshine at last, swimming in that wonderful black-red Tsitsikamma water.
Undulating (so said the trail map) hills, baboon barks, crowns and cabins.
A few bruises, and a Canadian sunburn—red shoulders and a white neck.
New resolution: more holidays without electricity.
Thanks to lovely friends for making this one happen. You're the best.
